Due to an extraordinarily busy fall already on the books, there will only be 2 dates offered this year. On the afternoon of October 29th we will have a full slate of sessions with an urban feel in downtown Fresno. Then the very next day, we’ll have a full run of sessions at the beautiful Woodward Park taking advantage (hopefully) of some great fall color. Sessions on Sunday will run all day with several sessions in the morning and a few more in the afternoon.

As with all Portrait Events, the sessions run about 20 minutes and are limited to a single family. These sessions are perfect for small children with those short little attention spans! You will place your order at an in-studio ordering session in the weeks following the event. The cost of the session is $50+tax and prints, albums, cards, digital files, etc are all offered on an a la carte basis.

It’s that time of year again! Soon the tempertures will start to rise, the fog and rain will go away, and we’ll all be breaking out the t-shirts and flip flops. Those barren orchards will explode with color and all that green grass in the hills will give way to the beautiful blossoms of spring.

In honor of the spectacular, central valley spring weather, I’m announcing 4 dates for my annual spring portrait event. This event features quick, pain-free 20 minute sessions that will deliver a set of fun, spontaneous images for you to hang on your wall, preserve in an album, or if you’re a plan-aheader, to make a fabulous WARM Holiday card for next year!

The cost for your spot in the event is only $50+tax. After your session, I will invite you to my studio to view your images and a big screen and place your order. Click the “Sign Up” link below to let me know you’re interested. Once I receive your message, I’ll send you a link to the registration and payment form. Please indicate which two dates you are most interested – label them “First choice” and “Second Choice”.

The available dates are March 19 and 27 for “Greenery” sessions or March 20 and 26 for “Urban” sessions. The “Greenery” sessions will likely feature a rural orchard and/or green fields and wildflowers. Actual locations will be determined the week of the session based on current conditions.

**Special note for people with unused, expired Groupon coupons. The face value of your Groupon remains intact even after the expiration date as a $55 credit towards services from Mark Janzen Photography. You may use the Groupon to reserve a spot in the portrait event. While you will not receive the full session or prints in the original offer, you will still be receiving a significant discount from the standard $750 minimum purchase amount in effect for a standard session. Please indicate in the comment session if you plan on using a Groupon for your session fee.

I can’t even begin to describe the experience except to say that it was eye-opening in every possible way. I am excited to get going on the upcoming wedding season in a way that I haven’t been since that first year in business. We’re not supposed to show much of the work we created during the workshop so as to keep from coloring the perceptions of future students, but we are able to show a limited selection. The first three images in the slideshow above were taken while shooting my assignment at the Austin Humane Society, the remaining images were taken while wandering Austin with my friends (and supremely talented photographers) Ryan Jones, Olivia Brown, and Sherry Pickerell a couple days after the workshop ended.

Mid-March is the peak of the wildflower bloom in the hills around Fresno, and we are going to take advantage of this beautiful scene by holding a final Spring Portrait Event at Millerton Lake on Saturday, March 20 2010! The fee to reserve your mini-session is only $50 – well below our regular session rate!

To get in on the action, just pay your session fee by clicking here, scroll down and click on the “Portrait Event” button. Enter your credit card details and the requested information, and I will be in touch with the particulars by email.

The sessions in the fall quickly sold out, so don’t delay getting in touch with the studio to reserve your spot! You must be available for a session between 9am and 5pm. Exact times will be scheduled and communicated by email Friday morning the day before the session, or earlier if all postions are full. Directions to the session location will also be sent at that time. The location will be on the Madera side of Millerton Lake, about a 30 minute drive from Fresno.

Next we have the 2nd Annual Spring Portrait Event.  This event will take place on the Madera side of Millerton Lake on Saturday, February 27 starting at around 9am.  The site is about a 30 minute drive from central Fresno and there will be a $10 entrance fee to the park.  This area is beautiful with wildflower blooms, lush green grasses, rolling hills and majestic oak trees.  We will only have room for about 10 families so don’t delay signing up.  If past events are any indication, those spots will go very quickly!  To sign up, click here or click the “Booking Information” link in the menu above.  Select and pay for the Portrait Event Mini-Session Fee and we’ll be in touch with further details.
