Shannon and Luis | Ranch Engagement Session | Clovis, CA Foothills

Shannon and Luis are a medical powerhouse all the way from Miami. Well Shannon grew up here and Luis is from Spain, but they’re a couple of doctors who’ll be making their home in Miami after the wedding. We shot the session on Shannon’s family’s ranch. You’ve probably driven past it driving down Auberry Rd – it’s the one with the fresh cherries and vintage trucks parked just inside the fence.

Emily and Waylon – Wedding from Wonder Valley Ranch

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of two incredibly warm-hearted people a couple weeks ago on an unseasonably warm day at Wonder Valley Ranch. We had a grand time finished off by surprise song, sung by Emily to Waylon, to close out the night. Here’s a few of my favorites…

Catherine and Hawk – Engagement Session from the Ranch

Catherine and Hawk booked me for their wedding coming up in October in Oakhurst a few weeks ago and asked me if it was okay if we included some of their animals in their engagement session. ”Sure” I said, “What kind of animals are we talking about?”. They replied “Oh, a couple dogs, some sheep, horses, a zebra…”. ”Huh? Did you say zebra? You totally should have lead with that!” So here it is, a very cool couple and a bunch of the most laid back, cool animals I’ve met – except for the goat that head-butted me in the rear and gave me attitude – see him in image 9.

Emilie and Daniel – An Engagement Session from the Family Ranch

Emilie’s family owns a huge ranch up in the foothills outside of Fresno (or Clovis I guess) so when it came time to shoot their engagement session we headed for the hills. After a quick stop to catch some of the last orchard blossoms of the season, we made our way to the ranch. It was a very cool spot, complete with one of those cool old weathered barns.

Leah and Blair – Wedding from Reedley MB and the Family Orchard

Leah and Blair had a spectacular plan for their wedding day – and with more than a few nervous looks to the sky hoping the rain wouldn’t come, it came off beautifully. Leah’s family orchard was in full bloom and made for a perfect setting for photographs and the backdrop to their reception in the barn. Their ceremony took place at the Reedley Mennonite Brethren church. The highlight of the day is when Leah and Blair arrived to the reception in a fully restored Ford Model A, driving down the grassy lane planted down one of the orchard rows.

I must also mention the talented Mr. Mariano Friginal accompanied me to shoot video – see the sweet trailer here.

Rosa and Mark – Engagement Session from Chowchilla, CA.

For Rosa and Mark’s engagement session, we met up just outside Chowchilla and made use of the rural country side. We shot in orchards, used the palms lining Robertson Blvd., found a cool green field, and then this great young orchard overgrown with wildflowers. This was also the first couple of mine to bust out the cowboy hats – yeeehaw! Aside from Mark (not me, the other guy!) getting stung by a bee, it was a sweet session!

Elena and Brett – An Engagement Session from Hornitos, CA

When I first met Elena she told me she and Brett wanted to shoot their engagement session in Hornitos, CA. I had never heard of it, but it turns out there’s a little ghost town in the foothills north of Mariposa. It’s not completely deserted, but there are several abandoned buildings that date back to the 1850′s. The location was VERY cool and I hope to go back sometime in the future – I love all the different textures and colors in that little town. After spending some time in Hornitos, we went out onto Brett’s ranch that sits next to the town and finished the session among the oaks and granite. Below are a few of my favorites…

Heather + Ryan – Engagement Session from Harlan Ranch

So, sorry guys, I put in the order for good weather but someone screwed it up and sent us bone chilling, cold wind just in time for our early AM engagement shoot! I swear it wasn’t my fault, but in spite of the less than ideal conditions, Heather and Ryan did an outstanding job of not looking “freaking cold”!

Nora + Brian – A Wedding on Grandpa’s Lake

Nora and Brian were married in an inspirational and emotion packed ceremony on the shore of a lake built by Brian’s Grandfather. The setting was perfect, from the houseboat that carried Nora and her bridesmaids across the lake to the ceremony and the grape Ring Pop delivered by the best man! I had an amazing time working with Nora and Brian – they are two of the most genuine, caring people I have ever met doing this wedding photography thing.
